Our People

Team Tinker Test Strip
sam2

Name:     Sam Taylor
Position: Creative Director

Before launching Tinker Taylor Sam spent ten years in the television industry. She produced and directed both live and location based shows primarily for the BBC, ITV, C4, SKY and TVNZ, across a diverse range of genres including entertainment, factual and business programming.  In 1999, she was presented with a Royal Television Society Award for best Lifestyle Series. Former player, now rugby coach, Sam loves to run, avidly follows F1 and spends as much time as she can with her three kids, the biggest handful is the oldest – age 37.

ben

Name:     Ben Lewis
Position: Post Production / Motion Graphics

Ben handles motion graphics and grading for Tinker Taylor. Ben’s keen interest and love of both creative design and technology keeps his ideas fresh, dynamic and innovative. Previously Ben spent five years working for Apple where he specialized in training pro video applications and was chosen to represent Apple in Las Vegas in 2007 at the N.A.B. conference where he showcased the newly released Final Cut Studio 2. Ben also makes mean pancakes. Not really, he’s actually crepe at making pancakes!

man1

Name:     Howie Dartnall
Position: Senior Lighting Cameraman

Howie is an integral part of Tinker Taylor.  He has filmed either single camera or as part of a bigger crew over 80% of all TT films.  He is a gem. Howie has been a lighting cameraman for all the major broadcasters, BBC, ITV, Sky, Channel 4, Channel 5 and has worked on a number of flagship programmes including Songs of Praise, Clothes Show and Formula 1 Grand Prix. The list is endless.

His sense of humour is an acquired taste – we have yet to acquire it.

man2

Name:     Tony Wass
Position: Sound Engineer

A former BBC Senior Sound Supervisor, with 33 years’ experience in the recording and broadcast industry.

One highlight was supervising the BBC TV simulcast of the 1991 Royal Gala opening of Symphony Hall, Birmingham, transmitted live to Europe via the EBU, in which the CBSO and Sir Simon Rattle performed Mahler’s Symphony no.2. He is invaluable when it comes to recording large events – there is not a safer pair of hands in the business.

me

Name:     Chris Kentish
Position: Web Designer

Chris is a digital designer and fine artist who we feel very privileged to have working with us at Tinker Taylor.

He has produced work for Channel 4, Heinz, GlaxoSmithKline, KPMG and the Cartoon Network to name just a few.  From micro-sites to full e-commerce sites, Chris will work with you to refresh and enhance existing websites or inspire and motivate you through the process of creating a new site from scratch.

phil

Name:     Philip Pugh
Position: Post Production / Social Media

Phil is a relatively new addition to the Post Production Team who joined on a short term Creative Apprenticeship Scheme and we now won’t let go of!

Before joining Tinker Taylor Phil produced a series of award winning short films and was commissioned to write and produce some short works for Endemol and E4. Phil is at his  happiest drinking a chilled bottle of Asahi while watching grainy low budget indie films.

woman

Name:     Marilyn Ward
Position: Production Manager

Marilyn is the consummate professional.  She looks after TT’s production finances, manages production budgets, schedules crews and generally organizes and fusses over us.

She worked as a Production Manager at both the BBC and ITV in News, live studio current affairs and factual entertainment for over twenty years before joining Tinker Taylor. Marilyn is a keen runner.

man3

Name:     Dan Sturley
Position: Post Production / Senior Editor

Dan is highly creative, absolutely reliable and keeps a level head in the edit suite when Sam is losing hers!

He is  valued as much for his editorial input as he is for his technical expertise. Dan spent several years at ITV, editing a wide range of productions from CITV Promos and trailers, to football highlights for ITV sports and factual entertainment including ITV’s Pulling Power through to current affairs and news. Dan knows how to change a light bulb – question is does it need changing?
