Pupil and Student Recruitment Reimagined

Replacing the Traditional Open Day in a Socially Distanced World

The pandemic has posed a significant challenge for the vast majority of our clients, from large corporate clients having to cancel or re-imagine their conferences and events, to healthcare organisations working harder than ever to support our crucial frontline workers.

University College Birmingham
The first of our education clients to embrace the video tour format was University College Birmingham. Located in the heart of the UK’s second city and with facilities that include a professional restaurant and realistic aviation suite, UCB knew it was vital to continue to showcase what it has to offer and commissioned TINKER TAYLOR to produce a series of on-campus video tours. Using minimal crew, who wore masks and upheld social distancing throughout the shoot, we filmed a series of presenter-led videos. These were edited by our in-house team and delivered all within a week. The videos have been distributed across multiple platforms: via the UCB website, where they hosted a well-attended virtual open day, via emails to prospective parents and via social media channels.

Hallfield School
In addition to universities, we are also working closely with secondary schools. As one of Birmingham’s leading select-entry independent schools, Hallfield School is normally visited year-round by parents looking to provide their children with the very best education has to offer. As an alternative to onsite visits, we delivered a beautiful video tour around the facilities, that encompassed the full scope of the schools offering, from academics to sport, music, and the arts.

Safety Guidelines
Our professional crew, again operating within TT’s strict COVID-19 shooting guidelines, spent a full day at the school, with crew on the ground as well as in the air. We captured stunning aerial footage via a drone, which showcases the school’s spacious, leafy grounds and illustrates visually its proximity to Birmingham city centre. Narrated by a professional voiceover artist selected by our Producer and approved by the Headmaster, the film is proving an excellent alternative to parents visiting the school in person, especially for those who are working from home, socially isolated or geographically restricted.
