West Midlands Police: Awareness and Recruitment Campaigns

West Midlands Police is the UK's third largest force, covering an area of almost 3 million inhabitants. Over the past few years, they have worked with us to create videos to educate, recruit, and inspire. Take a look.

Awareness Campaign
Courier Fraud

Courier fraud is on the rise. These types of scams can be devastating for victims, particularly the elderly, who may be more trusting and vulnerable.

From scripting and storyboarding, to the final shoot and edit; we helped WMP to create two films that feature two common courier fraud scenarios and the warning signs to watch out for.

With an uncomplicated script and crystal clear visuals, our goal was to ensure that each video was not only stunning to look at, but easily ingestible.
"The films have exceeded all expectations, effectively capturing the essence of the issue and conveying the gravity of the threat posed by courier fraud. The impact they carry is very powerful, and I believe they will be instrumental in raising awareness of this scam among our target audience.

...we are already witnessing positive responses and engagement from our audience."

- Holly-Leigh Carr - Communicatins Officer, West Midlands Police.

We have also created a series of short recruitment Ad's to help increase the number of applications from people with Black and Asian backgrounds to the force, to help the WMP better represent the public they serve.

In the first week of this recruitment campaign, applications rose to 250 a week, a 6 fold increase from the week before. Interestingly, this figure dropped by more than 50% when the initial campaign run ended in February 2021 – directly demonstrating the effectiveness of the video content.

In an 8 week run on Facebook, the first two videos had over 1 million impressions and reached just under 500,000 people.

Non-PC Roles

Non-PC roles play such an incredibly important part of the force. We helped WMP to shout about these roles and the opportunities they offer with a series of short videos that pack a punch.

Warm, authentic, and narrative-driven; we placed the WMP and those in Non-PC roles in the heart of the communities they serve.

We spent a few days filming with Student Officers, Specials, and Call Handlers in order to properly capture what it is to work in a non-PC role.

We have also worked closely with The West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner, who launched a campaign calling for an end to sexual abuse and harassment of women and girls exercising in public across the West Midlands.

We were bought onboard to create a film from concept through to delivery. The film is called ‘I’m Tired of This’ and it is being shared across the region to highlight the experiences of women who exercise in public, either on their own or within groups.
