NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) has been a valued client of ours, with over 50 films produced to promote the importance of organ and blood donation. This time, we had the honour of working with England football star Emile Heskey to encourage blood donation within Black communities.
The key messages were clear and impactful: each blood donation can help save up to three lives, and the NHS urgently needs more donors from Black heritage to provide optimal care for sickle cell patients. The project also included a personal connection, as Emile shared his motivation for donating, knowing his own children carry the sickle cell trait.
To create a relatable and encouraging narrative, we filmed Emile introducing himself in a piece-to-camera outside the blood centre. From there, we captured his experience inside the centre—interacting with staff, undergoing the blood donation process, and reflecting on the importance of his role in inspiring others to donate.

The video struck a chord with audiences, delivering the NHS’s message in an authentic and heartfelt way. The ad not only increased awareness but also served as a motivational call-to-action, highlighting the ease of donating and the significant impact it can have on others’ lives.
