A powerful campaign film capturing the unpredictable, demanding and deeply human reality of policing the UK’s rail network.
For British Transport Police officers, no two shifts are the same.
A missing child can quickly become a violent confrontation; a routine journey can turn into a moment of crisis.
We created Non-Stop for the British Transport Police Federation to bring that reality to life.
Shine a light on the tough realities BTP officers face every day, bringing audiences behind the uniform and into the moments that stay with them long after the shift ends.
Our first question was a big one: how do you transform a working train station into a film set?
Our pre-production team found the perfect solution. We headed over to Uttoxeter Racecourse and transformed it into a convincing railway concourse from the ground up – complete with bespoke station signage, a brand new coffee shop, ticket machines and a VFX departure board.
For the carriage sequences, we filmed inside a heritage railway carriage and used programmed moving lights to create the sensation of travelling through the night. A CineTrike and Steadicam brought an added sense of pace and movement, making a stationary train feel like it was hurtling through the darkening countryside.
Behind the camera, we had a brilliant 20–30-strong crew, led by Director of Photography Tom Martin. Shooting on an ALEXA 35 with vintage lenses, an extensive lighting setup and some incredibly impressive makeup and prosthetics, every department played a part in building a world that felt both atmospheric and authentic.
And at the centre of it all was actor Rachael Haslett. Her powerful performance brought the story behind the uniform to life, capturing the pressure, emotion and reality of the job.
The result is a film that takes audiences inside a world most people never see, and shows what it really means to be there when things go wrong.
