NHS England: National ‘After the Vaccine’ Animation and More

In December 2020, TINKER TAYLOR were approached by NHS England to produce an animation, explaining why everyone should continue to follow COVID-19 rules, even after having the vaccine.

Commissioned as a ‘medical intervention’ at the behest of Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Jonathan Van Tam, the colourful character animation explains the science behind vaccine protocol. It was designed to tackle a change in behaviours post-vaccination and ultimately to save lives.

In order to reach as many people as possible, we were asked to translate the animation into sixteen different languages. The entire project was delivered in just 4 weeks, from initial brief to final delivery.

Working with our Creative Director, Sam Taylor, our talented Head of Motion Graphics, Justin Carrington worked his magic, producing a visually engaging, accessible, subtitled animation. His bright, friendly and captivating character design helped illustrate the key messages in a simple, easy to follow format.

“Branding is good and the animation is really clever, flowing. It feels engaging and interesting getting across the key information with emphasis. Doesn’t feel cluttered with too much info. A great piece of work.”

In addition to the Animation, TINKER TAYLOR was asked to design and produce a series of print assets, including posters for waiting rooms in surgery’s, pharmacy’s and hubs delivering the vaccine; patient leaflets to be handed out post-vaccination and training guides, for NHS staff. All printed assets featured a QR code linking to the animation, hosted on YouTube.

The ‘After the Vaccine’ animation will be utilised in all essential online briefings in every NHS region and shown on screens in GP surgeries, pharmacy’s and hubs delivering the vaccinations.

The opportunity to use our skills at such a crucial point in history, helping to save lives, is something that all of us here at TINKER TAYLOR will look back on with pride.

“I think this is a fantastic piece of work turned around in a very short time period and I am grateful to the team that has worked on it. It has been a pleasure working with you.”
